Broadlands Lakes
A 25 acre fishery fed from the chalk stream waters of the famous river test and now is a well establihed fishery.
Developed from an ex-gravel works which helped build the M27 motorway in 1982, and stocked with a number of fish which included Carp up to 35lb , Grass Carp to 25lb , Pike to 39lb , Tench to 8lb , Roach to 3.9lb , Bream to 13lb & Eels to 10lb .
In 1999 two years after being taken over by new owners a carp virus hit
killing 50% of the carp.
So a huge re-stocking plan swung into action with 300+ fish going in,
and a further 240 double figure fish following in 2001.
Facilities include disabled access, toilets, showers, shops.Bait, end tackle, live bait for pike fishing are also available.
There is also a smaller match lake that covers about 2 acres and containing a large head of Carp, Roach, Rudd, Bream and Perch.
The Main Lake
The main lake covers some 25 acres in size, with 2 islands, small bays and gravel bars.
Stock includes Carp to upper 20's, Grass carp to 20lbs, Tench to 9lbs, Bream to 10lbs, Roach & Rudd to 2lbs+ and Pike
The best baits for carp are boilies, particles, pellets and corn.
The Lower Lake :
This 2.5 acre water right alongside the river Test holds 31 pegs designed with the pleasure angler in mind.
Matches can also be booked for the lake along with the other lakes.
Car parking is adjacent to lake to cut out those long dreary walks with heavy tackle.
This water is well stocked with Carp up to 17lb, Roach to 2lb, Eels to 4lb.
Boilies can not be used on the lower lake so as to try and maintain the traditional style of fishing with baits such as sweetcorn , bread , worm & maggot.
