Fairly exposed and raised above the surrounding fields, this makes it
open to elements and you can expect a lot of wind when it starts to
blow. The lake edge is grassed, so no mud to contend with. A lot of
the water is weedy, so here is a case of fishing to the clear spots, the
margin clear areas being particularly productive recently.
The lake has two large islands, fishing platforms around its perimeter
and also the clear areas have been marked to make things that much easier
for less experienced anglers.
It boasts a good head of fish to over 27lbs and many reaching weights of
between 18lb and 19lb.
In the open water, finding a clear hard patch and lightly baiting with
pellet and your choice of hookbaits with a slack line can produce the goods.
Pegs 9 to 15 can be a good choice but like every lake the fish move
around.
The best advice to an angler looking at visiting the venue would be to
take half hour or so to walk around and clock the showing fish, they will
show themselves on all but the coldest of days.
As well as the predominant Carp lake, there is also a one acre canal
shaped Match Lake with 25 pegs for club and match bookings.
This water is stocked with 4,500 course fish including Bream between 8oz
and 4½, Tench up to 3lb, Carp to 7lb, Roach, Perch, Rudd.
An average day fishing on this lake, should produce a good 30lb of fish
to the normal angler with match winners getting at least 50lb.
Further work has recently been carried out on landscaping and restocking
of hundreds more Roach and Rudd between 6 - 8oz to really keep the lake
fishing through the winter.
