Previuosly this was predominantly a Carp venue but in recent years more
than a ton and a half of bream, roach, perch, chub and barbel have been
introduced.
The Carp go to weights of 24lb+ while Bream go to about 3lb. Pike are
also present but very rarely fishing for.
The small numbers of Perch, Tench, Gudgeon, Chub and Barbel dont really make
them a good specific target. The target species seem to be Roach and
Bream, with the silver fish producing quality double figure bags for pole,
tip and waggler anglers.
Boilies are without doubt the most productive carp bait, but also dog
biscuits or bread work well when the fish are on the top.
With the fairly shallow depths the carp don't like swimming into tight
lines, and so back leading is is a common approach.
The best catches of bream are normally taken by quivertip anglers, with
sweetcorn and luncheon meat in summer and pinkies, maggots or casters during
the winter.
